The LIME BVI/USVI Basketball Tournament was two exciting days of youth in action with the Tortola team emerging as the Tournament Champions over 3 time winner St. Croix.
Basketball fans were witnesses to some of the best basketball ever played as the crowd was brought to its feet time and time again over the course of the entire tournament.
The tournament, hosted in the BVI for the second time since 2007, was a showcase of very talented youths with participating teams from St. Croix, St. Thomas and two teams from the BVI.
As sponsors of the two-day tournament, LIME fulfilled its promises for half-time entertainment for the spectators with the introduction of the LIME Beat the Clock and LIME Dueling Free Throw competitions. Winners of each game were awarded the latest LIME Nokia Smartphone.
The LIME Beat the Clock game involved spectators attempting to make four baskets in 30 seconds. The four baskets were a free throw, a layup a three-point shot and a half-court shot. Shamori Dagou of Tortola had the crowd cheering as he was successful in making all shots with seconds to spare.
In the LIME Dueling Free Throw contest, two contestants competing against each other, side by side on the same free-throw line, had 60 seconds to sink as many baskets as possible. They also had to retrieve their own rebounds. The victor was Khari Jones of Zion, St. Croix.

"Basketball is dear to the hearts of the youth of the BVI and their athletic prowess and skilful play throughout the tournament was on full display during the two-day event. This is more than a sponsorship; it´s an investment our youth. LIME is therefore, very proud to be sponsors of the BD BVI/USVI Basketball Tournament and to facilitate this exciting event for basketball fans and supporters in the BVI. " said Mr. Sean August, LIME General Manager in the BVI.
LIME´s sponsorship included outfitting all of the participating teams with uniforms and providing a home court for the BVI BD Basketball organization for practice sessions. LIME has made available to the organization the use of its Sports Club facilities in Palestina to ensure the youth have an appropriate and available court for their use. This venue offers the association a "home" base to practice the fundamentals of the game and an opportunity for fund raising initiatives in support of the club.
