Chairman of the Board of the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA), Bishop John Cline has disclosed that a non-BVIslander has been recommended to fill the post of Chief Executive Officer of the BVIHSA.
Bishop Cline made the disclosure today during a press conference at the training room of the Peebles Hospital.
He said that they are dealing with the appointment and did not comment further.
The appointment of the CEO has to be made via the Minister for Health, with the approval of Cabinet.
Dr. Ronald Georges who had been acting as the CEO for some time, left at the end of his contract.
Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon. Ronnie Skelton told BVI Platinum News on June 7 that Dr. Georges' contract was extended by Cabinet until May 31, 2012 upon his [Hon. Skelton] advice.
At the time, he stated that so far, names have been shortlisted for the post and a decision will be made soon for a new CEO of the BVIHSA.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Social Development, Ms. Petrona Davies had also stated that Dr. Georges was on secondment from the Ministry of Health to the BVIHSA. She said for a number of years, Dr. Georges has been between the Ministry and the Health Services Authority.
