Former President of the BVI Horse Owners Association and horse owner, Violet 'Letty' Hodge has made an impassioned plea for those responsible to improve the condition of the stables at the Ellis Thomas Downs.

Hodge, who is the owner of L&B Racing Stables which has produced the legendary Aspectation and new sensation Really Up Town, called attention to the stables during a recognition celebration at the Downs last Saturday, June 2.

She said that the horses are the most important element of the sport and they should be protected.

At-Large Representative, Hon. Archibald Christian attended the event and pledged his support for addressing the issues relating to the stables.

In my world. I have a horse, a cat a dog or a fish. I take care of it and where it is accommodated. I have to agree with Letty. The stables should be kept properly and who better to pay for it than the horse owners.
Or does the BVI own horses as well now.

The Government are the ones blocking every other avenue for the horse owners to make additional monies that's why they're asking them to fund the upgrades. The Government spent over $5mil on a horse track but can't spend a few thousand to upkeep the stables? They should build them... more

If you could own a horse you should be able to build your own stable. Meet the taxpayers half way; our tax $ built the track why can't the horse owners association build and up keep the stables?

Horse racing is not a poor mans sport. These horse owners are mostly wealthy people. Why must government provide better stables for their horses ?
