The Sir Rupert Briefcliffe Hall was transformed into an evening of dazzling entertainment as eight beautiful and bold students of the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School (ESPPS) competed for the title of Little Miss ESPPS 2012.
At the end of the event, contestant #5, Miss Anica Penn was crowned the winner of the show which was held under the theme `A Wonderland Sprinkled with Sugar and Spice´.
Penn who was consistent throughout the show also won Best Introductory Speech and Best All Grown Up Wear. For the latter segment she portrayed a model who made it to the cover of Essence and Vogue magazines.
First runner up went to contestant #4, Destiny Roberts, and second runner up to contestant #6, Desha Skelton.
Best Out of Music Talent went to Roberts and Best Tea Party Wear was awarded to contestant #8, ShayVanie Karran.
The pageant was staged this year after being inactive for numerous years.
According the Pageant Committee of the ESPPS PTA, from 1981 to 1998, the school has hosted a grand annual pageant showcasing courageous, cute and talented five to seven year old boys and girls who vied for the coveted titles of ESPPS Prince and Princess.
However, last evening, Mrs. Valerie Welch, Principal of ESPPS said this year´s pageant was slightly different as there were no male contestants.
She said this is due to the fact that there were not enough applications from boys entering the contest. As a result, the principal explained that since there were only girls entering the contest it was decided to rename the pageant `Little Miss ESPPS Pageant 2012´.
The show also featured past Prince and Princesses, while teachers of ESPPS made appearances.
The contestants were serenaded by Amoui Williams.
The show was hosted by Karia Christopher and Lorn Greene.
According to the committee, the pageant was a fund-raiser and it is aimed to raise enough funds to facilitate the purchase of material required by the school for the children to be more comfortable in their school environment.
The contestants in the show were: #1-Neria Griffith , #2-Jessica Asika, #3-DiaMonae Thomas, #4-Destiny Roberts, #5-Anica Penn, #6-Desha Skelton, #7-Tierra DaSilva and #8-ShayVanie Karran.
