Dwayne Fahie was remanded to prison in relation to the discovery of $10,000 worth of cannabis and for allegedly stealing a number of building materials, including three toilets from a homeowner.

During his court appearance yesterday, July 25, Fahie pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of cannabis [1,018 grams] and not guilty to unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply to another and handling stolen goods.

The stolen items totalled $7,657.15, while the cannabis has an estimated street value of $10,180.

Senior Crown Counsel Christlyn Benjamin told the court that the complainant in the matter presently resides at Johnson's Ghut and is in the process of building her home at Trunk Bay, which is about 70 percent complete, with all of the windows and doors installed.

The court was told that the woman ordered items from overseas and the items were then stored in the living room of the house which has a door that cannot be securely locked.

It was stated that on July 12, 2012 at 2:00 pm, construction workers secured the place before leaving.

The Prosecutor said that on July 14, the workers returned to the premises to continue work and upon entering the living room, it was observed that boxes of tiles were missing. Further checks revealed that lights, faucets, toilets, electrical wire, paint, a circular saw and a saw blade were missing.

The men made further checks outside of the building where fresh tire marks were seen.

The Police was contacted, investigations were conducted and based on the information received, a search warrant was carried out at Fahie's home on July 18.

Benjamin said during the search, all of the stolen items were recovered except for one of the three toilets. Some of the items were found on the outside on the defendant's patio, while others were found inside of the house.

The search continued in the defendant's bedroom where a large quantity of loose stalk of what appeared to be cannabis and cannabis seeds, along with a number of dime bags were recovered.

Benjamin stated that on July 19, the defendant was interviewed and he allegedly admitted to having the cannabis in his house. However, he explained that a friend gave it to him to keep and to smoke some.

Fahie allegedly told Police that the cannabis was to help him out with the pain he suffered after he had a spinal cord surgery.

In relation to the stolen items, Fahie told Police that he bought the materials from off the street.
