The BVI will be represented next week at the annual Miss Jamzone International Pageant in Guyana, where the winner will take home US$10,000.00.
Jasmine Perez, 23, who is no stranger to pageantry in the Territory after gaining the first runner-up position at the 2009 and 2010 Miss BVI pageants, will be competing against 10 other beauties from the Caribbean and Latin America.
The pageant is part of Guyana's premier festival, Jamzone Summer Break and takes place on August 21 at the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown.
According to the Jamzone Summer Break committee, the contestants will compete in Swimwear, Intelligence, Cultural Presentations, Fantasy Swimwear and National Dress segments.
Some of the other countries which will be represented include Venezuela, Guyana, Dominican Republic, Barbados, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname.
Perez is a radio personality and enjoys reading, socializing, dancing, photography and organizing community service projects.
In relation to her life's ambition, she stated, "I hope to own an entertainment network in the Caribbean which would include radio and television broadcast. I will work tirelessly to produce original and quality programming for this network."
As part of the Jamzone Summer Break activities, a number of international and regional artistes will be performing including hip hop star Rick 'Rozay' Ross of Maybach Music; Jamaican dancehall artistes Mavado, Konshens, Baby Cham and Bounty Killer; and chutney stars, Anil Bheem and the BMRZ, Chris Garcia and Terry Gajraj.
